Moringa: A Key Ingredient in Immune IQ

Moringa has become one of the most impressive plants to hit the health market and goes by 100 different names in different languages around the world. The plant is native to the Himalayan mountains and parts of Africa and India. One of the best parts of Moringa is that it comes packed with over 90 protective compounds, including isothiocyanates, flavonoids, and phenolic acids.

To date, there have been over 1,300 articles, studies, and reports focused on the benefits of moringa, finding that it has compounds that are extremely important in parts of the world where disease outbreak and deficiencies are common. If that’s not enough, in 2008 the National Institute of Health called moringa (moringa oleifera) the “plant of the year,” acknowledging that “perhaps like no other single species, this plant has the potential to help reverse multiple major environmental problems and provide for many unmet human needs.”

Moringa is Loaded With Nutrients

Kuli Kuli, an organization that harvests moringa in Africa, has shown gram to gram the plant contains:

  • Seven times the amount of whole food vitamin C as oranges
  • Four times the amount of vitamin A as carrots
  • Three times the amount of potassium as bananas
  • Two times the amount of protein of yogurt

Studies have shown that moringa powder is loaded with phytochemicals, protein, calcium beta-carotene, vitamin C and potassium. Due to its high natural concentration of vitamin A, moringa is given to thousands of children in third-world countries yearly suffering from life-threatening vitamin A deficiency, which is linked to impaired immune function.

Consuming moringa can also improve the intake of trace minerals, amino acids, and phenolic compounds. Moringa contains a unique combination of disease-preventing phytonutrients, including flavonoids, quercetin, beta-sitosterol, glucosides, zeatin, and kaempferol.
