Ascorbic acid plays a vital role, but it is not everything!
Humans have a pretty good track record of focusing on just trying to gain all the benefits from focusing on just this one part of nature. Such is the case with just focusing on ascorbic acid instead of the whole molecule of vitamin C.
Without a deeper understanding and respect for the intricate design of both the nutrients as nature intended for our bodies to consume, and also for the design of the body itself, we run the risk of short term gain in one part of the body or with one symptom but long term dysfunction in some of other part of the body.
There can be some benefits associated with a cheap ascorbic acid based Vitamin C supplement, but consuming it by itself will cause an uncoupling of copper from ceruloplasmin, a very, very important protein in the body.
